2. The Strand Place Hotel
The Strand Palace Hotel is at 372 Strand, London, WC2R OJS, and is a ten minute walk from the LSE campus.
From Heathrow Airport:
a. Take the eastbound Picadilly line* to Covent Garden (fare around £6 single). Exit the station onto James Street and turn right towards Covent Garden. Cross Covent Garden and turn right onto Southampton Street onto the Strand and turn left. The hotel is 30 metres down the Strand on the left hand side.
OR
b. Take Heathrow Express train to Paddington (fare around £13 single/ £25 open return). Then, from Paddington, on the underground (tube), take the Bakerloo line* southbound to Charing Cross. Exit the station onto the Strand. The Strand Palace Hotel is on the Easterly side of the Strand. Walk in the opposite direction to Trafalgar Square for about 500 metres. The hotel is on your left.
*If you know you will be traveling frequently on the tube while in London, we suggest you buy an ‘Oyster’ card upon your arrival at tube-stop in Heathrow Airport. By ‘topping-up’ this card, you can save a little. If you do not plan to move around on tube frequently, we suggest you buy your tickets per individual journey.
