Travel reimbursements: The conference will reimburse you up to 500USD of travel expenses. You MUST present a full receipt of your flight and proof of payment (the e-ticket print-out is fine) and keep your boarding pass/ticket stubs. Please fill out an MIT Travel Expense Voucher and bring it to the conference with all your documentation!
Hotel: Folks coming from the UK will be staying at the Kendall Hotel, which is located in Kendall Square by the T (subway) Red Line Kendall Square station.
Getting around: You can view the MIT Campus map here. And the T (subway) provides great access throughout town. There are "Charlie Ticket" machines at the airport INSIDE the terminal and at T-stations that take credit cards. We recommend you get a CharlieCard with multiple rides (1.70USD per ride) or a week-long pass (15USD).
Getting to MIT/Kendall Square: If you are arriving at Logan airport you can take the Silver Line rapid transit bus service from the international arrivals E Terminal directly to South Station and switch to the Red Line which will take you to Kendall Square. A taxi from the airport will cost approximately $35. If you are arriving by train or bus at South Station take the Red Line from South Station to Kendall Square 4 stops. You can use the MBTA trip planner to get details.
Travel to Cambridge: All conference attendees should plan to arrive in Boston on Tuesday, the 22nd April (at the very latest) in order to attend a dinner at 8pm that evening. The conference itself starts at 9am on Wednesday the 23rd April. We recommend that you fly into Boston Logan Airport (BOS). There are daily flights from London on American Airlines, British Airways, Continental and Virgin Atlantic. If you would prefer to fly into New York you can take the train or bus to Boston South Station. A train journey from New York on Amtrak takes approximately 3.5hrs. For the true student experience, round-trip bus tickets to New York can be purchased for approximately 30USD round-trip on the Lucky Star bus, Fung Wha bus or Greyhound. You will need to leave plenty of time if you choose this option!
