2008 Event: The Chirping Sidewalk

What: The Chirping Sidewalk When: 10 - 12 pm, 23 April 2008 Where: Toast Lounge (70 Union Square) The Writing Cities conference and Boston-based experimental arts group The New Factographers present "The Chirping Sidewalk," a one-night audio and video installation in Union Square, Somerville. "The Chirping Sidewalk" is a portrait of Union Square captured in video, photographs and sound. For one evening, the many flat screens of the nightclub and its sound system will be filled with the pastiche of urban life. The installation intermixes clips from SCAT producers with a collection of experimental videos about the neighborhood, intermixed with a sampling of media from cities around the world. Sonically, attendees will be drawn into a series of local soundscapes interspersed between awesome rock music from and about Somerville, Boston and other great cities. Directions from Kendall Square to Union Square: Catch CT2 bus to "Sullivan Square" from Main Street in Kendall. Exit bus "30 Prospect Street." Walk left down Somerville Ave into Union Square.
